Jane E Sleeth, Hon. B.P. & H.E., B.Sc.PT., C.P.T.
Jane Sleeth is the founder and Managing Director of Optimal Performance Consultants Inc., a national ergonomic design, accessibility, and disability prevention consultant firm.
Jane is author of the best selling book "Return To Work Compliance Toolkit" and "The Canadian Ergonomic Toolkit, A Guide To Keeping Employees Working Well". She has recently completed the writing of a new book which will be released by Thomson Reuters in the fall of 2010 entitled "Preventing Back Pain".
Jane is a regular and sought after speaker at national and international conferences speaking no unique and innovative approaches to the management and prevention of injury, illness, and disability.
Jane holds an Honours Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and Physiology from the University of Toronto and a Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy also from the University of Toronto.
Jane has a considerable body of published work and articles in national health & safety; ergonomic; human resources and peer reviewed journals which dates back to 1989.

ARTWORK COMPETITION
The Abilities Arts Festival is holding an art competition as part of the 2010 Abilities Arts Festival, being held in Toronto this Fall.
The purpose of the Artwork Competition is to select up to three works from each artist for inclusion in Connections 5, an art exhibit presenting artists with disabilities.
The fully installed exhibition will open at a downtown Toronto venue, Fall 2010.

Anxiety and out-dated stigmas about people with disabilities are the top barriers to employment for this population, according to a new study.

The glee club members twirl their wheelchairs to the tune of "Proud Mary" and in joyful solidarity with Artie, the fellow performer who must use his chair even when the music stops.
Did you know that in recent research, it was found that music can help in developing human's spatial-temporal reasoning skill?
The DramaWay SingingWorks program provides music experiences that focus on individual strengths and talents for youth and adults of ALL abilities. The program is led and taught by local independent vocalists who perform professionally in and around the GTA. Participants are given the opportunity to work with seasoned professionals who use adaptive teaching techniques to aid participants in developing their musical skills. While practicing their performance skills, participants will gain knowledge about tone, pitch, rhythm and movement while also working towards an Open Class Presentation. Previous music training is not required to enroll for this program. It is open to beginners as well as experienced music lovers!
As you may know we at the Canadian Abilities Foundation have been working in partnership with BMO Bank of Montreal, the first major Canadian bank to offer the Registered Disability Savings Plan (RDSP), on a number of initiatives to educate Canadians on this innovative investment option. One of the initiatives that they
have developed is an RDSP workshop that can help educate members of your organization and provide clarity on the RDSP.
